We’re proud to partner with the Crescent City Harbor District on a major redevelopment initiative. CSS secured funding for the development of a Harbor Redevelopment Master Plan, to meet the District’s goal of increasing revenue and adding new business to support the commercial fishing industry and the community. We have identified projects and property locations for development; and are leading the process to secure long-term leases for Harbor-Dependent Commercial, Recreational, and Visitor-Serving businesses.

We’re thrilled to announce the success of our partnership with Community Shop Class, California Mobility Center, and SMUD, facilitated in collaboration with CSS's own Coday Anthony! Together, we’ve empowered youth facing housing instability through a unique workforce development program. From manufacturing assembly to e-bike mechanics, these talented individuals have honed their skills and passion. We celebrated their achievements by presenting them with their very own Hiboy brand e-bikes. They assembled, geared up with helmets, and joined us for a thrilling test ride after completing a bike safety course. Here’s to a brighter future filled with opportunities and adventures.
The SMART CSS Program has been designed to assist Locals with organizing work for community development in their jurisdiction. We identify government-owned buildings, schools, and private buildings with potential projects for SMART Union members. We identify grant funding and finance solutions for those projects. We develop property owner relationships and secure Community Benefits Agreement for every project we work on. We collect all needed project documents. And then we write grant and finance applications to fund the projects. Learn more by watching the video.
